The Minimum Dose to Defend

Everything above raises the practical question: how much training does preservation require? The answer is less than building requires — you are defending existing tissue, not growing new tissue. Frequency analyses find that per-session volume matters more than the number of days (Grgic et al., 2018), and the dose-response in older adults supports two to three sessions a week as the effective range (Borde et al., 2015).
